This book covers everything you will need to know from

training advanced obedience for public access, and
life-changing assistance tasks to help you with
day-to-day life. Service Dog training varies greatly from
pet dog training with differences in potty training,
controlled loading and unloading out of vehicles and
public transportation, training to stay under restaurant
tables and under chairs to stay out of aisle ways in
public, and how to behave around people and other
dogs while working as a service dog in the public setting.
Specialized tasks include teaching your dog public
access skills, assistance with non-protective
boundary/crowd control, deep pressure therapy, medical
alert for panick/anxiety attacks or flashbacks, searching
for and retrieving lost items, bracing for balance, guiding
you to the car or out of a building, going around corners
in advance of you, searching your house for intruders,
as well as advanced service dog obedience. Service dog
etiquette, management, and laws are discussed.
This
book is designed for those with life-inhibiting psychiatric
disorders; bringing a dog into public merely for emotional
support is not allowable under the ADA (Americans with
Disabilities Act). Dogs must be trained in specific tasks to
assist your disability.

Book Reviews -

A Guide to Training Your Own Seizure Assistance
and Alert Dog, is a must have on your book shelf!
Not only does the author go through basic training
techniques, but all the information she gives on
every day practical needs just blew my mind away!
There were so many pointers and tips I never would
have thought of while training my own seizure alert
dog. Information from how to get in and out of the car
to how to walk with your dog while shopping at a
grocery store and even using a public restroom
really was an eye opener for me. I was struggling
with my dog and with training, but after reading her
book and how she broke it down step by step, I was
able to step up my own training techniques and
together my service dog and I became a team. If you
are looking to train your own seizure alert and
assistance dog, I highly recommend you read this
book and put it into practice because it's not just the
dog that needs to be trained, but the owner as well.

- D. Cesena

LOVE LOVE LOVE your training books. Thanks to
your books, my standard Poodle is now a seizure
alert dog. He has not missed a seizure yet!
